The annual Cancer Council fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 17, at the new location of the Ulladulla Civic Centre lawn.
The 2018 event will also be shorter, running from 9am to 9pm, instead of the previous 24-hour timeline.
Cancer Council community engagement officer Stephanie Lake said feedback from participants led to the changes, adding this year’s event would have a “festival” feel.
“What we find, is those events that have been taking place for a number years get to a point of needing a revamped and refreshed look and that is what we have done,” she said.
“We want to deliver a good quality event for the community. I feel bringing it to Civic Centre grounds will make the event a lot more visible to the community as well, and we want to catch foot traffic and people coming past.
“The event will have more of a festival type atmosphere and we are hopping to get different, quality entertainment there, as well as rides for the kids.”
Ms Lake said the event would stay true to the essence of what Relay for Life is about, “celebrating survivors, remembering loved ones that we have lost and fighting back against cancer”.
“Funds raised from Relay go towards to practical support programs for local cancer patients and their carers,” Ms Lake said.
“Things like accommodation, transport to treatment and the 13 11 20 support line, as well as prevention programs to educate the community on how to reduce their risk of cancer.”
Registrations for the event were now open, with an early bird price available until September. To register, visit www.relayforlife.org.au/miltonulladulla.
Volunteers for the event were still needed, Ms Lake said. To become a volunteer, phone Stephanie on 4223 0200.
