The leadership of Milton Lodge was transferred from Keith Claxton to new worshipful master Allan Went.
Mr Claxton had been in the role for two years, but it’s part of the tradition of the Freemasons for leadership to usually switch each year. Mr Went said the role was a challenge.
“I’ve got some plans, but whether they come to fruition, time will tell,” he said.
A banquet for members and partners was held on Saturday evening and on the following day a brunch, which drew 40 to 50 people, was held at the lodge, Mr Went said.
“It was excellent, everything went off just as planned,” he said.
“The installation was successful at the lodge. [The banquet] was fantastic.”
United Grand Lodge of NSW and the ACT grand master James Melville presented $3,000 cheques to both the Mollymook Surf Club and Milton Cancer Outpatients Appeal during the brunch on Sunday.
“[It was] excellent, they were well received,” Mr Went said.
Two Ulladulla SES members also gave a “well-received” talk to the members’ wives, he said.
