LJ Hooker Ulladulla’s Chelsea Gadaleta says it the office’s “biggest fundraiser yet” and will involve treadmills running non-stop for 24 hours. Funds will go to Kelli O’Brien, Dean Howcroft and the Cancer Outpatients Appeal Milton Ulladulla Inc, she said.
Ms O’Brien has been living with brain cancer for more than a decade and wishes to be able to receive the care she needs at home with her family.
Mr Howcroft was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) when he was 25 and has lived with it for 13 years. The Mollymook man is flying to Panama for embryonic stem cell treatment later this month.
The Cancer Outpatients Appeal was formed in 2003 by a group of local volunteers to address the physical, emotional and financial burden on local cancer patients, their families and carers who had to travel to distant centres to access essential cancer treatment and services.
The appeal raised the funds to build, equip and furnish the Milton Ulladulla Community Cancer Services Centre adjacent to Milton Ulladulla Hospital.
A sausage sizzle will kick-off the event at 12pm on May 24. Bacon and egg rolls will be served from 7.30am on Friday morning and a barbecue lunch will be held at the completion of the event on Friday at noon.
