The surge in theft has prompted a warning from police, who are urging people to lock their vehicles and homes.
Ulladulla Police Sergeant Greg Churchill said 45 instances of theft had been reported, which was the “most in the South Coast Police District”.
“Police have made some arrests for related offences to these, but the offences continue,” he said.
“[We think] multiple groups or persons are involved.
“[We are urging people to] please remain vigilant about securing vehicles, not leaving property, especially large amounts of cash, in the vehicles and securing property in yards or houses.”
Mr Churchill urged people to “make some effort”, to deter thieves.
“To assist police, if people hear or see anything suspicious, please report it. Registrations of vehicles, descriptions of persons etc are useful,” he said.
