South Coast MP Shelley Hancock secured funding for the repainting of the 145-year-old lighthouse last August. The works include car parking expansion, landscaping and the installation of suicide awareness barriers.
When Mrs Hancock secured the funding she said it would ensure the lighthouse’s longevity, aesthetic appeal and the overall visual appeal of the iconic spot.
“I am committed to ensuring our important local historic and community assets, such as the Warden Head Lighthouse, remain safe, accessible and something the community can be proud of,” Mrs Hancock said.
In April, Shoalhaven City Councillors voted unanimously to allocate funds and offer assistance to an Ulladulla suicide prevention group when it applies for government funding.
Councillor Patricia White tabled a motion that proposed a budget of up to $75,000 be allocated to assist with project management, design, scopes of work and council also assists the Ulladulla Lighthouse Suicide Group with applying for funding opportunities with all levels of government.
Many councillors complimented Cr White for presenting the motion and they also commended the work the prevention group has put into the Warden Head Lighthouse redevelopment project over the past 18 months.
