It’s always good to see hard work pay off. When we set eyes on Warden Head Lighthouse covered in scaffolding for its long-awaited paint job, we thought of all those who have been campaigning to have the whole precinct tidied up and made safer. Congratulations also to the Marine Rescue volunteers who saved a man’s life at Burrill Lake in April. They were recognised for their efforts by NSW Emergency Services Minister Troy Grant at Parliament House in Sydney as part of National Volunteer Week. To them and every other person who volunteers for the benefit of their community, we salute you.
We also acknowledge the effort of young recycling warrior Paige Rutherford, who is encouraging her peers to do their bit to protect the environment. Paige is setting a great example.
Another young person deserving of accolades is Leroy Lidbetter from Sussex Inlet, who has been selected to attend the Australian Youth Aerospace Forum in July. Leroy is focused on an aviation career and we reckon he’s plotted the right flight plan.
Things are also looking up for the Shoalhaven economy, with council moving to expand industrial land for the first time in 20 years because of increasing demand. Of course, a growing economy will require better roads – all the more reason to support our FIX IT NOW campaign.
Catch you next week.
