Year 9 student Tanaya North received a Harding Miller Education Foundation scholarship which provides practical support to purchase uniforms, stationary and out-of-school tutoring. Each scholarship is valued at $20,000 across four years.
Ms North praised her supporters for guiding her through the application process.
“I want to thank Mr Layden,” she said.
“Ms Bunyan and Samara Williams, she works here and helps out with the Aboriginal kids.”
Ms North, who wants to be a primary school teacher, said she plans on continuing her tutoring so she can make the most of the scholarship.
“If I don’t do tutoring until year 10 I can lose that scholarship for year 11 and 12 so I’m doing tutoring four times a week,” she said.
“It’s helped with me with my maths and science. I want to do my best in school.”
