On Thursday, ABC’s youth radio station announced St Helens, Tasmania would host this year’s event.
Over the past 15 years, the One Night Stand has taken Australian live music acts to regional parts of the country and put on a full-scale, all-ages concert.
Shoalhaven City Council passed a general motion on March 13 in support of a united bid to bring the concert to the region.
Mayor Amanda Findley said it was disappointing Milton missed out this year.
“But, you know it’s highly competitive and hopefully we’ll have a chance again in the future,” Cr Findley said.
However it’s not all doom and gloom for festival fans. SeeChange Festival in Jervis Bay in Jervis Bay wraps up this long weekend and Escape ARTfest in the Milton-Ulladulla region runs from October 4 to 7.
“Then of course at the end of the year, Fairgrounds is up in Berry,” Cr Findley said.
“There’s always some good music happening at local venues so keep an eye out on helping keep local music alive.”
