But it was the hosts who settled first, when captain/coach Dylan Farrell ran onto a Matt Rouen offload and stepped inside his man to score under the sticks.

Half Shane Dickinson added the extras for 6-nil.

The weight of possession for the hosts saw them finally break through for a second in the 26^th minute.

Hooker Rouen was again involved, this time hitting prop Zac Kershaw with a pass from close range, before the latter barged over.

Dickinson again converted for 12-nil.

Despite a number of other chances from both sides, this is how the score remained until the break.

Any chance of a Bulldogs comeback was put on the back burner two minutes after the resumption when Rouen scored a try of his own – dumming and diving over under the black dot.

Dickinson landed his third kick, making it 18-nil.

Just when it looked like the Jets might run away with the contest, the visitors staged a fightback.

Their first try came through fullback PJ Ardler, who wasn’t going to be denied from close range, before Blake Mackey pounced on a dropped bomb by Jets winger Isaac Mumberson to score.

Lachlan Moore missed both conversions, as the score was 18-8 with 20 minutes to go.

The Jets put the game to bed with six minutes to play, when centre Nathan Falzon intercepted an errand pass by the Dogs, to run 40 metres to score.

Dickinson converted for 24-8, which is how the game ended.

In the win, Ryan James, Zac Kershaw, Rouen and Falzon were the Jets best, while Dayne Ewings, Moore, Ardler and Mitch Simmington did all they could for the Bulldogs.
