The author, comedian and keynote speaker addressed a sold out lunch at Bannisters on Thursday.
She spoke about puberty to menopause and everything in between, and how the perception of women’s issues had changed over time.
Mrs Kittson, born in the baby boomer era, said speaking about periods was a no go zone when she grew up.
“When I got my period, my Mum handed me an elastic belt and a pad the size of a pillow and we didn't speak about it to anyone,” she said.
“Now, my daughter freely speaks about her period and carries around pads and tampons in brightly-coloured packages.”
