Over the past 12 months, several judges have noted that members’ skill and creative interpretation has improved greatly, with many photographers pushing themselves and others in the club to new heights.
The pursuit of photographic excellence was exemplified by the originality and expertise constantly demonstrated by Dawn Woods.
Fittingly, Dawn was awarded the honour of 2017/18 Club Champion, receiving the highest number of points for her body of work throughout the competition year.
The image of the year award in the theme category was presented to Christa Drysdale for Bright Spark, a clever image interpreting the ARTfest 2017 theme of Spark, while Bill Hindmarch took out open image of the year for his dreamy image Relaxing at the Pool.
The President’s Award - the Ron Doughton Memorial Award – was given to Julie Fox in recognition of her generous, diligent and consistently excellent contributions to both the club and the community more broadly.
There were a further 12 awards presented to members who placed first, second and third for the year in the theme and open competition categories across both A and B grades, as well as several achievement award recipients chosen by the committee.
Sue Caine and Sandy Lanham were promoted to A grade for their achievements in the theme and open categories respectively.
The full list of honours and award recipients can be found on the club’s website and Facebook page.
Before the awards ceremony, the club held its AGM, with the election of Jane Milojevic as the new president, and Anna Rosenzweig, Sandy Lanham and Gina Evans rounding out the executive.
It was gratifying to see several new faces volunteering for roles, while the club also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing members Dawn, Christa and Julie.
The next meeting of the club will be a print competition night on Monday, July 23 featuring the theme From Here to There.
The gathering starts at 7pm at the Milton Ulladulla Bowling Club, and new members and visitors are most welcome.
