Treading Lightly in the MUD is teaming up with the Shoalhaven Slow Food Group for the event as an opportunity to raise awareness about waste.
Monica Mudge said the night would bring like-minded people together, and those trying to reduce their waste.
The night will kick-off with food prepared by Shoalhaven Slow Food, who will source the food from produce that may have otherwise gone to waste or landfill.
“We are asking people to bring their own bowl, cup and spoon so we don’t have to use any single use items,” Mrs Mudge said.
“They can come along, enjoy some beautiful home food cooked, listen to some inspiring guest speakers on the night, and watch the screening.”
Mrs Mudge said War on Waste Season 1 “opened the eyes” of a lot of people.
“I think it made people think a little bit more about where our rubbish and waste goes and how we can live more sustainably,” she said.
“We don’t all have to be hippies. One in five of our shopping bags per family will generally go to waste. The average family spend $1400 a year and throws it straight in the bin.
“We are hoping to raise awareness about all types of waste, and mindfulness in regards to how we consume.”
The screening will take place at the Dunn Lewis Centre on Tuesday, July 24 at 7pm. Entry to the event is by donation, with all proceeds going to the Community Resource Centre. Click here to register for the event.
