In their first of two warm up games before the cup competition starts in London, Commerford’s side easily accounted for India 3-nil on Monday.
Stephanie Kershaw opened the scoring late in the first quarter, in the clash between the fifth-ranked Hockeyroos and 10th-ranked India.
Gerringong’s Grace Stewart netted the second goal in the second quarter, before captain Emily Smith slid home the third shortly after.
Commerford, a former Ulladulla High student, and her team will next play Great Britain in their second and final practice match on Wednesday, before their cup campaign gets underway on Sunday against Japan.
The Hockeyroos, who were World Cup runners-up in 2014, are in pool D against Japan, Belgium and New Zealand.
