You don’t have to go very far to see how dry things are. Normally green paddocks are looking decidedly brown. Once lush lawns are looking a little threadbare.

South Coast records for lack of rain and warm temperatures over July have tumbled – and we’re still a month from spring.
With the dry conditions comes a warning from the Rural Fire Service about the upcoming bushfire season.
We had a minor fire in town during the week when a blaze started in a waste compactor outside Aldi. Quick work from local firefighters had the situation in hand in no time.
Also keeping an eye on the bush are Dolphin Point residents, who will take their displeasure at the way a new subdivision has been cleared to the Ulladulla and Districts Community Forum on Monday.
The new month brings a new sitting of the NSW Parliament, which is why local MP Shelley Hancock has urged those who have not yet signed her petition for the Shoalhaven Anglican School site to be acquired by the government for a new high school to go ahead and do so. So far, it’s 1,000 signatures short of the 10,000 needed to have the matter debated on the floor of the parliament.
Catch you next week.
