A firefighter on the frontline of the Kingiman Road blaze, west of Ulladulla, has said conditions are “hot” and told of his crews success in saving two homes on Evans Lane.
“It is hard to see, it is very hot and there is a lot of fire,” he said.
“There is a lot of fire around houses. We saved two this morning on Evans Lane, so we are happy about that.”
Mr Magnusson said there were 12 members of his brigade fighting the fire.
It was the the 20th fire they had attended in less than 25 days, he said.
“We are all tired from this past month,” Mr Magnusson said.
“We have 21 active firefighters and some support crews. I think everyone we have here [on the Kingiman Road fire] is all we will have through the night.
“It is all I’ve got.”
Steve Elsworth from Lake Tabourie Rural Fire Service said he had been on the scene from 6am on Wednesday.
“We have mainly been doing property protection in Evans Lane,” he said.
“It can get scary, because you don’t want the shed to burn down.”
