Helicopter pilot Allan ‘Tully’ Tull died near Ulladulla while conducting firefighting efforts on Friday, August 17.
Shortly after the news broke of Allan’s death Shoalhaven resident Jill Blackler suggested via social media that the community donate “any amount possible” to his family.
A resident was concerned that an online platform would take a percentage of the funds raised, so Shoalhaven City Council mayor Amanda Findley suggested that the mayor’s relief fund could be used as a way to fund raise for Allan’s family.
“As Mayor I am deeply saddened by this news and send my condolences to Allan Tull’s family. The work that Allan undertook for our community will never be forgotten,” Cr Findley said.
“There appears to broad community support for this and Jill Blackler endorses this happening,” Cr Findley said.
“On behalf of the community, we send our sympathies to the Tull family in New Zealand.”
On Monday, council released bank details.
