The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District has partnered with Shoalhaven City Council to run the Health Moves program for people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart problems, high cholesterol, blood pressure and osteoarthritis.
Stream Leader Integrated Care Franca Facci said the program was an extension of the successful Health Moves program that previously focused on diabetes care.
“We have been running successful Health Moves programs for the past four years in the Illawarra and, following community requests to make the program available to even more people, we’re excited to be launching the Health Moves program in the Shoalhaven,” Ms Facci said.
The program is an ongoing joint initiative between the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and Shoalhaven City Council and provides an opportunity for people to get their health on track in a friendly and supportive environment.
The Health Moves program starts on September 3 at Ulladulla Leisure Centre. It runs for 12 weeks with two physical activity sessions a week and four educational sessions held during the program.
Places are limited and people should register their interest by calling The Diabetes Service on 4231 1910.
