Cassandra Hamel learnt the art of chocolate while juggling life as a Mum.
Mrs Hamel is a finalist in the New South Wales Business Excellence category of the AusMumpreneur Awards 2018.
“I got nominated anonymously, and then had to do a submission about my business and why I love what I do,” she said.
Juggling kids and a businesses hasn’t been easy, but loving the art of chocolate and helping people to create moments kept Mrs Hamel chasing her dream.
“It is not easy, I work lots of hard hours but I have such a huge chocolate dream, and I really can almost taste it I want it that bad,” she said.
“I want to provide something really unique and beautiful on the South Coast that no one else offers. I mix a bit of chocolate and champagne together and really create a moment for people.
“People are so proud of what they make, and go home really excited. We are the only chocolate and accommodation business anywhere. We are certainly unique. We have a lot of people from Canberra and Sydney, and people from the South Coast.”
Mrs Hamel learnt the skill of chocolate art two years ago before launching her business to pass on her knowledge to others.
“I have two kids that have gone through six surgeries in the last five years, so there has been a lot of hiccups,” she said.
“Now the kids are good, and I am chasing our chocolate dream.
“I couldn’t have done this without the support of my husband.”
There are only 10 people as finalists the category and Mrs Hamel was “thrilled” to have been chosen.
“This is a recognition of all of our hard work,” she said.
“It would be really nice to be awarded for all our hard work, but it is also an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded business women.”
The award winners will be announced at a gala night in Victoria at the end of the month.
The AusMumpreneur Awards recognise mums that are creating freedom, flexibility, family time, success and the money for themselves and their families.
