Bouquets to local dairy farmer Robert Miller, whose highly visible protest on the outskirts of Milton has drawn national attention to the plight of milk producers, caught between the drought and crippling farm gate prices. And applause for Milton IGA which has added 10 cents a litre to one line of milk, which it will return directly to local dairy farmers. This adds to the pressure on the big supermarket chains to end their milk price war.

Also attracting national attention this week was the ongoing fight for fair pay by early childhood educators. We were thrilled to see one local centre get ahead of the game by paying its staff above award wages because it sees the value in what they do.
The countdown is under way for this year’s Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride. We’re excited not just because of the great old motorbikes that will be on display but because our event was so successful last year, raising more for men’s health than much bigger rides around the world.
We’re also looking forward to the forthcoming Shoalhaven Wonders exhibition, highlighting those places and people us locals hold dear.
Because we hold our environment in such high regard, it’s little wonder development is always a hot topic. It was on the agenda at the Ulladulla and Districts Community Forum this week as locals discussed ways they could engage with and have influence big planning decisions that will shape the region’s future.
