Orchids will be on show at the Milton Ulladulla Orchid Societies annual Spring Show on September 15 and 16.
Society member Marilyn Higgins, who has been growing orchids on her Milton property for more than 10 years, will enter.
“People are invited to come and view the spectacular spring orchids of all colours,” Mrs Higgins said.
“The perfume the native orchids have at this time of year is beautiful.”
There will be displays, demonstrations and plants for sale on the day.
“We will have orchids for sale on the day. The natives go quick, because they are harder to buy from plant stalls,” Mrs Higgins said.
“There will be orchid plants, posies and stems to buy.
“We will also have interesting and informative potting displays, and a visual screen of many different varieties of orchids.
“Club members are happy to help with any growing queries you may have.”
Mrs Higgins said a “magnificent” bonsai display would also be a highlight of the show.
Asked how she got the perfect flower for shows, Mrs Higgins said, “Fertiliser and the right amount of water”.
“They do there own thing, but you do have to fertalise to get the flowers,” she said.

“I put nitrogen on them between September and March to make them grow and when they are nearly ready for flowering, we put phosphorous on them.”
She said judges looked at the colour and shape of the flower.
The show will be open at the Ulladulla Civic Centre’s main auditorium from 10am to 3.30pm on the Saturday, and 9am to 2pm on the Sunday.
There will also be a raffle and lucky door prize on the day. Event entry is just $2 to cover costs.
