Ken Leslie has been elected as the Milton Show Society president and hopes to see the top job out for at least five years.
After being involved in the show committee for six years, Mr Leslie took the reins from Roy Johnston.
Mr Leslie said he would continue the “great” work of the previous president.
“We are looking to keep hold of our traditional base, but also to modernise the show to meet the expectations of the younger families in the district and get more of the community involved,” he said.
“We started last year with a few things; we had a lot of young committee members step up and take on rolls. We had a kids zone, and we changed the rides provider.”
The 2019 show will be a big affair, with 150 years celebrated.
“I feel a bit of pressure to get it right, we have a lot of members who were here for the 100th show,” Mr Leslie said. “We are looking for the community’s support again, and some good weather.”
