A tourist accommodation business, built around one of the region’s historic homesteads, was the overall winner at the 2018 Rotary Club of Milton Ulladulla Community and Business Awards.

The Old Schoolhouse, Milton, was named the Business of the Year at the awards night, held at the Dunn Lewis Centre on Friday, September 7.
Owner Jenny Paul, who also won the Best Tourism and Hospitality Business, was surprised when she was named the overall winner.
“I’ve really noticed tonight that everyone involved is incredibly passionate about their business. That is something that seems to permeate through the entire district,” Ms Paul said.

Cupitt’s Winery, J&T Dale Plumbing and Ulladulla Printing Services were also inducted into the Ulladulla Community and Business Awards Hall of Fame. Rotary president Craig Saunders said the businesses had won their categories for numerous years and had evolved to receive the perpetual trophy.
Ulladulla Mowers was presented the Highly Commended Judges Award.
Best in Retail Services was award to That Phone Place, which also won the popularly voted Friendliest Business of the Year.
“This award, I view as quite an achievement for any business. Our main goal in business is to have a happy customer,” owner Craig Smith said.
Empower Wellbeing was the Best in Personal Services, Health and Wellbeing. Owner Emily Bingham was “really excited” to accept the award.
J and C Welding and Fabrications was the Best in Trades and Services, Gentle Dental was named Best in Professional Practice, Kane Samways from J&T Dale Plumbing was the Apprentice of the Year, and Lions Ulladulla and Districts Community Foundation was named Community Organisation of the Year.
People’s Choice Restaurant was Tony’s Italian Ristorante Bar and Seafood, People’s Choice Casual Eatery was award to The Bay Leaf Indian Restaurant and the Friendliest Employee of the Year was Sharne Graham from Boardwalk Cafe.
Jim Mison was presented the Max Bayliss Award for his commitment to the Milton Show Society and Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs. Karen Bashford of South Coast Finance and Business Solutions won the Contribution to Tourism and Business award. Her award was accepted by her husband Peter.
