Bulldogs’ committee member Kirra Dowling said the club wanted to host a community event following the end of the rugby league season.
“The idea was to have a mini-festival, a bit of a family day,” she said.
The club then connected with Farmers Little Helpers, a group of past and present Milton-Ulladulla residents, who had delivered at least 15 drought-stricken families water and eftpos vouchers over the past few months.
The idea to host a fundraiser formed into reality and a number of local businesses “jumped on board” to either donate activities, prizes, food and drinks Mrs Dowling said.
Farmers Little Helpers member Sally Stewart said all proceeds from the festival will be given to farmers’ families for water delivery and eftpos vouchers. She praised sponsors for supporting the inaugural community event.
The festival will be held at Bill Andriske Oval, Mollymook from 3pm to about 9.30pm on Friday, October 12.
Activities include jumping castles, loads of games for children, a petting zoo, NRL development ball games, live music, a mechanical bull and an outdoor cinema screen The Greatest Showman from 7pm.
First prize in the raffle is a car from Alan May Holden.
Tickets to the festival are $5 each or $20 for a family of five.
