South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said the overall project for the lighthouse would see new paint, footpaths, parking and landscaping completed.
“Built in 1873, the Warden Head Lighthouse is one of only two wrought iron lighthouses in New South Wales and is an important heritage site for the region,” Mrs Hancock said.
“As painting finishes at the end of the month, we are now looking to move onto the next phase of the refurbishment.”

Mrs Hancock said she was able to see the Warden Head Lighthouse upgrade released as small contracts and encouraged businesses with specialisations in the areas of earthmoving, construction and fabrication to apply.
“It is only fitting that those who know the area best put their hand up to help restore this icon,” Mrs Hancock said.
“Keeping the project local will also mean more work for our local businesses and help to support local jobs growth.
“I thank the local community for their dedication and assistance with this project, which once complete will see safety and amenity improved, as well as increase its value to both the local community and visitors.
The first stage of the project has seen the removal and safe disposal of existing paint work, the removal of rust and mould, and both inside and outside the lighthouse repainted.
Applications can be submitted until Monday, October 8 by emailing nowra.crownlands@crownland.nsw.gov.au.
