The Barry Pannowitz veteran singles championship final was played between a "young" veteran in his early 70's versus a more "mature" one in his early 80's. Alan Wynter had to work hard to clinch a 9/7 win in the first set against his younger opponent, pres. Darcy Nelson. It seems that Al may have had a rest, or maybe even a seniors moment or two in the second set for Darcy played fine bowls to clearly win it 11/2. A toss gave Darcy the mat for the first of three tie break ends, starting with a close shot. Alan calmly went on to have three touchers in a row to take the mat for the second end, starting with yet another toucher, thence the second set & the championship. Barry, the bowlers & marker Dave Beavis had a recap afterwards. Note: The championship Handicap Fours, a quarter final line-up, commences this Saturday.
Social winners: Last Wednesday's triples $20 voucher winners were first time skip Mark Sommerville with bionic Bob Field & Scoop. By good management they had a four on the last end to win by one! Friday Open Pairs: the $120 prize was won by Hutch & Pop Wynter, Lefty & Crusty claimed the KENO voucher whilst the $720 Jackpot had Sid & Dave very hopeful but alas.
