On Wednesday 3rd October, fifty Beachside Veteran golfers played a nine hole Stableford for the Monthly Medal, this being the final monthly medal for 2018. Winning the day was Graham Wicks with a score of 24 points, in a count back from second place getter Don Miller. Third place went to John Payne who scored 23 points in a count back from Ken Venables.
Balls were given out for scores down to 19 points, with Wildcards going to Bruce Anderson and Garry King. Nearest the Pins were awarded to Ken Venables on the 2nd , Allan (Butch) May on the 6th, and Stan Izzard on the 7th. Next Wednesday 10th October will be a Nine Hole Single Stableford for the first round of the Alan May Holden Trophy.
Mollymook Hilltop
Looking back on a good week of golf at Mollymook last week, the course maintenance is progressing well and we are welcoming the current rain. The competition results for the past week are is follows. Tuesday’s Ladies Stroke event was won by PATRICIA WICKES with a Nett score of 73 in the A-Grade and PAULINE WILSON with a score of 72 in B-Grade. Wednesday’s saw MICHAEL MCCORMACK & VICTOR NASH take all the spoils in the Vets Better Ball Stableford event with a score of 48 points. RICHARD CORNOCK walked away the winner on Thursday narrowly beating SHAUN DICKSON in a countback on 36 points in the Men’s Stableford event and PAULINE WILSON strikes again winning the Ladies Stableford on 35 points.
Saturday attracted a full field with the monthly medal in play, DAVID HASSELL won A-Grade on a countback with a nett score of 73. BRIAN RUSSEL took home 2nd as well as the gross overall with a score of 78.
In Saturday’s Stableford event SCOTT McCORMICK won A-Grade with a final score of 38 points whilst B-Grade was a blowout for GEORGE BETSIS with an explosive score of 42 points. SUSAN MAPLE-BROWN won the Ladies Stableford with a final score of 39 points.

Grand finals have been played and weren’t they played with grit and determination. All players in all grades are to be commended, the games were fought hard and down to the wire, winners well deserved and runners up congratulated.
MENS singles Championship was played on the 2/10/18 with 25 players stepping up to the oche line, with plenty of stiff competition on their minds, brilliant darts by all our men’s players but the Big man Bruce Bailey took the win in the A GRADE final from the grasp of Dave Boyle winning with a very honest finish, 4 games to 3.
Adam Fulmer took the win in the B GRADE final from Ken Kelleher 3 games to 1, Adam’s first championship and he takes out the win, great darts Adam.

So that is our weekly competition wrapped up until next year, so thank you to everyone for your excellent darts and comradery throughout the season, please attend the AGM on 3rd of February 2019 to nominate your teams for next year’s comp.
Championships will continue this week Ladies starting Monday 8/10/18.
Mollymook Masters will start with Ladies on 5/11/18 and 12/11/18, Mens on Wed 7/11/18 and Tuesday 13/11/18 and Mixed 8/11/18 – (Possibly Wednesday 14/11/18) and finishing 15/11/18, this will be the final competition games for the year so come along and have great nights making awesome dart memories.
Presentation is on the 1st of December and monies must be in by the November Monthly meeting, $20 per player refundable on the evening and $40 per guest. This year is a sport themed evening so dress as you favourite sportsman or woman cheerleader or referee just have fun with it…. A great evening of fun laughs and prizes for all with a lovely meal put on by the Chef’s at “Jacks on The Green” at the Mollymook Bowling club.

September’s weigh-in was also the club’s AGM. Bruce Bailey will continue into next year as President and Victoria Ricketts as Secretary and Treasurer. Weigh-in results : Les Toth (pictured on left) weighed in over 8kg - including Gurnard, Leatherjacket (FOM), Pigfish and Maori Wrasse. Salmon was plentiful and quite a few were caught off the rocks by Phil Bailey. Steve Fornasier and Carl Babbington caught 4kg and 6kg totals of flathead outside while Ray Lewin also hooked up plenty of Flathead and Salmon. Terry Wyatt presented with Nannygai, Leatherjacket and some nice sized Flathead.
Next weigh-in will be on Sunday, 28 October with FOM being Salmon and Flounder. This will also be the club’s second Picnic day and General meeting for 2018. New members always welcome.
