On Monday, October 8, a pink ribbon breakfast in theme of gardening in pyjamas was held at the Dunn Lewis Centre, Ulladulla.

A delicious array of warm and cool breakfast foods was laid out for patrons as they enjoyed each other’s company, an auction and “oodles” of raffles.

Organiser Joii Harris said she was overwhelmed by the public’s support of her idea and the sponsors’ donations.

“We’ve got some really supportive people,” Mrs Harris said.

“Aren’t we lucky with the area we live in.”

Mrs Harris said children, mums, dads and grandparents enjoyed the breakfast. Some visitors had travelled from Nowra and Bega to attend.

It was the first time Mrs Harris had organised a pink ribbon breakfast. She wanted to raise funds to one-day find a cure for the common cancer.

“It hits you in the face, all the time,” she said.

“You hear of immediate family, or friends, being diagnosed. It’s time we annihilate it.”

Mrs Harris planned to host a treasure hunt in the Dunn Lewis Centre garden. However, falls of up to 12mm on Sunday contained activities to the inside. 

“It’s unfortunate, but we were happy to see more rain.”
