Various Ulladulla members of Yuukan Judo Club returned with extra weight around their neck following the Australian Kodokan Nationals.

On the long weekend, 16 members from the Ulladulla and Bega Yuukan Judy Club’s represented the Far South Coast against other Australian states and competitors from as far as Japan.
Many of the club competed and their first national and left with medals.
On Saturday, September 29, Ulladulla’s Riley Nolan won all his fights to be the Australian Kodokan Champion for his age and weight. Also in cadets, Marcus Singapu claimed a bronze medal while River Langford fought well in his highly-contested division.
The juniors were also in highly-contested divisions with some members having to face six and seven competitors in their divisions.
Betty Flay, Aimon Goodison, Raedon Smith and Bodin Smith were worthy winners and are now Australian Kodokan Champions. The club was also proud of Camille Gautier, Clancy Huisman, and Yenje Sourhwood for their sportsmanship and competition in the juniors.
In second place and silver medalists were Amelie Gautier and Adannaya Ekeson and taking home bronze medals were Eva Gautier and Jonathon Smith.
On Sunday, September 30 the Australian Kodokan National Seniors and Masters competed, including Phoebe Flay and Roger Mayer, who won bronze.
“These results are a reflection of the hard work in training that our members put in and we are proud of each of you individually and as a club in these results at national level,” Yuukan Judo Club Ulladulla secretary Gayle Nolan said.
Ulladulla trains on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and you might see them running on the footpath for their fitness and endurance training.
