MOLLYMOOK’S Sophia Fulton has continued to show why she is one of the country’s top up and coming surfers, this time excelling at the World Surf League’s Women's QS 1,000 Mandurah, Western Australia.

Fulton opened the competition with a dominant display in round one, where she easily topped heat number four.
The 16-year-old scored waves of 2.80, 3.50, 0.90, 8.00, 0.65 and 5.25 – for a best two-wave score of 13.25.
This saw her finish above fellow Australians Emma Cattlin (9.95), April McPhreson (9.40) and Bailee Hastie (6.85) – seeing her progress straight through to the quarter-finals.
Unfortunately, Fulton couldn’t continue her hot form in the fourth quarter-final against Coolangatta’s Alyssa Lock.
Lock managed waves of 6.25 and 4.15, for a combined 10.40, seeing her just edge out Fulton’s 10.25 (4.50 and 5.75).
This result leaves Fulton in 67th in the QS rankings.
