Ulladulla won the toss and elected to bowl. Bay and Basin got off to a flyer with Archie Wilson, Oliver Driscoll and Henry Mackay smashing 129 before they lost their first wicket.
Harrison Fairs and Rowan Falcolner kept the bowling tight but it was Ken ‘The Destroyer’ Owens who got us back in the game with 3 for 22 off his 5 overs.
Eventually Bay & Basin were dismissed for 174 in the 28th over.
It was always going to be a tough run chase, especially after we lost our openers cheaply. Solomon and Harrison Fairs turned the momentum for the Dulla with Harrison smashing seven boundaries and at the drinks break we were 2/84 and back in the game.
With their mid innings retirements, runs were hard to come by for our middle order but 9-year-old Stefan Matuschka smashed his first ever boundary and was dismissed swinging the bat for 7.
Needing 50 runs off the final overs, Solomon Fairs returned to the crease in beast mode, smashing another 3 boundaries and when brother, Harrison rejoined him there was a glimmer of hope.
Ultimately Harrison was dismissed for a well-made 47 runs off 40 balls leaving Solomon not out on a career high 30.
After three games we have just the one win but have the competition’s leading wicket taker in Ken Owens (8) and the leading run scorer Harrison Fairs (113).
A big thanks to George Walker from 1st Grade who has made a huge difference helping us out at training.
