St Michael’s Catholic Parish Primary School assistant principal Laurinda Nelson has been appointed to the position, effective from 2019.
Diocese of Wollongong’s director of schools Peter Turner was pleased to announce Mrs Nelson as the new principal.
Mr Turner said Mrs Nelson brought more than 26 years of experience in Catholic education to the leadership role.
“An active parishioner of St Michael’s Parish in Nowra, Lindy is currently the Assistant Principal at St Michael’s Catholic Parish Primary School, Nowra, commencing there in 2009,” Mr Turner said.
“Previously Lindy was assistant principal at St Joseph’s Catholic Parish Primary School, Condobolin between 1992 and 2005 and, from 2007 until 2009, Lindy was the religious education coordinator at St Michael's.”
Mr Turner regards Mrs Nelson as a person who possesses “significant skills and experience in building community and leading cultural change”.
He said she has a deep commitment to her vocation as a Catholic educator, collaborates with the parish and wider community to support the needs of students and has built the capacity of staff by supporting the development of cooperative teams and the professional learning of colleagues.
“I congratulate Lindy on this significant appointment and I commend her to you as an outstanding leader and educator who will support St Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Parish Primary School,” Mr Turner said.
