The finals of the Winter/Spring Harris Scarfe Monday Ladies tennis competition were held on Monday, December 3.
In Division One the first placed team of Deb Loves, Kate Rejc and Hilary Neal defeated the team of Maureen Mennie, Val Crook (filling in for Rhonda Nisbet) and Pam Germyn 4 sets to 0.
In Division Two the team of Jo Fox, Kyla Hargreaves and Deb McDonald only just beat Larraine Dunn, Jennie Rutherford and Melissa Charles in a 5-hour long marathon match, 4 sets to 2 with only 4 games the difference.
After the matches a delicious lunch was shared by all the players and spectators and presentations made to the winners and runners-up as well as special awards for special players.
The prize for the Best and Fairest players went to Deb Loves in Division One and Norma Neal in Division Two.
Mary Lou Barclay is the busy lady who volunteers to organise this comp and we really appreciate all her hard work and dedication.
If you haven’t already let Mary Lou know you’d like to play next year in a team or as a reserve please contact her on 0426 828 341. New and returning players are always welcome. Social tennis will be held for the next two Mondays starting at 9:30am.
Ladies from both divisions are invited to attend an evening of fun and laughter to finish off our competitive year at the Milton Ulladulla Bowling Club on Saturday, December 8, from 6pm. If you wish to attend please contact Robyn Potts on 0414 249 063 by Wednesday, December 5.
Thursday Night ladies
Last Thursday night saw the 2 semi-finals played and the results were: Team Blondinau (Melissa, Mary Lou and Sonya) defeated Team Hannaford (Lee Dickson for Stacey, Sue Pascoe and Julie) 4 sets to 2. Team Simon (Jo and Belinda Ireland for Trish) defeated Team Donohue (Jenny and Elanna) 6 sets to 0. Unfortunately Team Donohue had to forfeit several sets.
This Thursday, December 6, the grand final will be played between Team Blondinau and Team Simon, while the wooden spoon will be decided between Team Donohue and Team Hannaford. The presentation will follow the night’s tennis including refreshments. All welcome and please remember to bring along a plate of goodies to share and drinks to celebrate.
If you intend to play or are interested in playing in our next comp commencing in February 2019 please contact Sue Pascoe on 4455 3189 or 0448 738 245.
School Holiday Clinics
Coach Kevin and his assistant coaches will conduct the first holiday tennis clinic on December 20-22. Players can choose to participate on one, two or three days at a cost of $30 per day.
Clinics are suitable for all skill levels and include full court coaching with team games and challenges and prizes to be won. Arrive at 8.45am to register for a 9am start concluding at 1pm.
This would be an ideal opportunity for parents to do last-minute Christmas shopping without the kids around.
Kevin will also be conducting clinics during January, the dates not yet decided but will be notified later.
Snacks and refreshments are available at the club with fruit supplied, players just need to bring sunscreen, hat, morning tea and water.
For all bookings and enquiries phone Kevin Murphy on 0417 359 721.
