Council has received revised documentation in relation to the development application titled Milton Meadows Senior Housing.
Submissions were opened on Wednesday, December 5 and will be accepted on or before Friday, January 4, 2019.
The development proposal includes phased construction of seniors housing comprising an 89-bed single-storey residential care facility, 130 independent living units in the form of single-storey duplex and triplex dwellings and 133 independent living units within seven separate three-storey flat buildings with connected underground parking in some parts.
A two-storey clubhouse with a medical centre, gym, swimming pool, recreational space, restaurant and associated parking, three stormwater detention basins, ancillary services and civil infrastructure was also included in the application.
The application was lodged on May 23, 2017, and stated the facility, Milton Meadows Senior Housing, would be built on the Princes Highway.
In May, 2017, Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley told The Times she understood the size and scale of the development would be a surprise to many new residents of Milton.
We need to keep in mind that it will be likely that the development would be staged, she said.
Last time the land came to council for rezoning, community members put forward a strong case for an aged care facility as a higher purpose land use, which is important for our population to have options in aged care.
The application is on exhibition on the Joint Regional Planning Panels website and Shoalhaven City Councils DA Tracking website. The Joint Regional Planning Panel will determine the application because it is classed as a regional development
Roger Black, on behalf of the applicants Hawes and Swan Planning, addressed the Ulladulla Districts and Community Forum on July 3, 2017. The forum passed a motion to support, in principle, the concept of the aged care facility.
