There was an excellent turn up for the celebration day. The winner of the “Roma Robbin” story writing award was announced. The stories from the June and December issues of the club’s journal – Pigeon House Magazine, were judged by Vicki Hoskins, Ulladulla Customer and Community Resources Manager for the Shoalhaven Libraries.
The winner’s story was ‘England Cemetery Hunt’ by Julie Gullan Issue No 46.
“I picked this as the winner as it was written in such a way that I was carried away with her emotions. As I was reading, I felt her excitement, disappointment and finally her joy at finding her ancestors tomb. A really enjoyable read,” Vicki said.
Vicki also commended four more stories. Thanks went to Vicki for her time and congratulations went to all the winners. The society will be closed over the Christmas/New Year time and will re-open on Monday, January 14, 2019.
Another important event on the day was the re-connection of the internet. There had been some technical issues, however they have now all been resolved. A big thank you went to Michelle Babington from the Civic Centre for her prompt action.
The timber book has now been printed and orders will be available for collection as well as sales, at the club’s room in the Civic Centre from Monday, January 14, 2019. This is the date they will return after the short Christmas New Year break. There will be a launch date to be announced for February 2019.
