If this appeals to you, (it’s free cheese, say no more) then hop in the car and head up to the 2019 Kangaroo Valley Show next month. 

Gates will open to the ‘Friendly Show’ on February 15 and 16, with local school children being granted a free pass to skip the desks and enjoy everything the show has to offer instead. 

While there will be plenty of favourites on offer, a unique event is set to take place on the Saturday afternoon. 

The Valley Cheesemakers hope to break a Guinness World Record set last year when more than 560 people tasted cheese at Western Australia’s Margaret River Dairy Company.

“We are aiming for at least 700 people,” Valley Cheesemaker committee member Kathy Harrington said. 

The event is free (although there is an entry fee for the show) and family friendly – children can be part of it as long as they’re prepared to taste cheese.

Every participant will get three pieces of cheese in a little cardboard box, and ABC sports commentator Peter Wilkins will tell everyone when it’s time to start tasting.

The event has received cheese donations from Bega, Bodalla and Unicorn cheese companies.

Along with the cheesy delights, there's plenty more happening at Kangaroo Valley Show. 

The Insitu Inspiration station will feature interesting stories from interesting local people (see schedule on the day or visit the website) covering everything from the local dairy industry to music royalty.

Some of the stories will feature Tim Farris from INXS, Rosemary Stanton, Sandra McGuaig CEO Bodella Cheese, Don Godden GML Heritage Advisor, and entertainer Peter Bishop.

Local landscape artist Neville Connor will be undertaking the tough job of art judging in the pavilion. Paintings, etchings and drawings will all be on view and most will be for sale. Head along and buy an original piece of art.

The dunking tank will be a highlight on the Saturday evening with a line up of local identities from Mr Smee the headmaster of Kangaroo Valley Public School, to Peter Thompson the local Friendly Inn publican.

There is a new backyard poultry class/s to attract the average chook owner rather than serious poultry owners, some thing for every type of chook owner. Enter here.

There will also be camel rides, food stalls galore, including a local Kangaroo Valley produce stall.

Saturday evening will see the rodeo provide plenty of entertainment. 

Gates open on Friday, February 15 from 8.30am to 11pm and 8am on Saturday, February 16. Adults are $15 on both days. Children aged under five are free on both days, and those aged between five and 15 are $5. Aged and invalid pensioner card holders are $10.
