Residents and holidaymakers alike turned out for the Lions Club of Milton Ulladulla’s Australia Day Celebrations at Mollymook Beach.

Musical performances from some of the district’s most talented young performers were the highlight of the event, however, attendees made the most of the 100-plus stalls, vintage cars and children’s rides.
Zeke Cameron, 17, was awarded the inaugural The Aryan Award, in memory of Aryan Rumantir, who a former Ulladulla High School student and talented performer.
Aryan was loved local entertainer who performed at the Australia Day ceremony in 1998, The Blessing of the Fleet Festival and for the Entertainers. He tragically lost his life in a car accident on November 6, 2000.
As well as being the first recipient of The Aryan Award, Zeke took home a $2,000 scholarship. He said he had his eyes on drum kit they’ve been using, but haven’t bought yet.
Other finalists included Lord Gabe and the Jazz Lions, soloist Chelsea Eggins, the duo Odd Socks, sisters Frances and Ilona Gray, an all-girl band Sunny Side Up, soloist Riley White (who was a co-winner last year with his sister), duo Beau Rouge, soloist Ashton Johnson and brother-sister duo Maya and Leon Holstegge.
In his closing address, Lions Club of Milton Ulladulla president Gerry Taniane praised ambassador Jacinta Tynan, local businesses and service organisations, fellow Lions’ club members for their tireless efforts preparing the event, Shoalhaven City Council and the “wonderful” youth performers.
