About 4.10pm on Wednesday, NSW Ambulance paramedics attended an incident where a 28-year-old male had crashed his bicycle and was found unconscious on the side of the road on North Street, Ulladulla.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the rider had crashed his bicycle half-way down the "steep hill" and was found unconscious on the road by a passing motorist.
Paramedics arrived shortly after to find a male with critical head and suspected spinal injuries. Paramedics stablised the patient at the scene before transporting the victim to Shoalhaven Hospital to meet the SouthCare Helicopter Medical team.
The patient was airlifted to St George Hospital, Sydney, in a critical condition.
The NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the patient was not wearing a bike helmet at the time of the crash.
“This is a timely reminder for anyone riding bikes, scooters and skateboards to wear a helmet."
