Sean Barrett was recently announced as Cricket Manager/Shoalhaven and Jenna Purcell Participation Officer/Southern NSW/ACT.
Sean's role is to promote, facilitate and support the growth and sustainability of clubs, competitions and schools in the region.
High among up in Jenna's job description is to promote and develop a culture of cricket in schools, which will be great for the Shoalhaven.
The issues facing Shoalhaven cricket like falling numbers, no under 16s competition, volunteers under strain and many other matters were recently exposed by the South Coast Register in a five part series of stories.
Shortly afterwards came the news that Martin Gleeson would take the role as Area Manager - Southern NSW and ACT.
He will now work closely with the other new members of the Cricket NSW team.
Meet the new members of the team:
Sean Barrett (Cricket Manager/Shoalhaven)
Sean, with over 15 years experience in the NSW Health Service, has developed a strong customer service and administration background.
However, it is his 12 years as the Rugby Participation Manager-Southern Region for the Australian Rugby Union and NSW Rugby Union that gives Sean and cricket a running start at supporting cricket more intimately in the Shoalhaven region.
His in-depth knowledge of both the grassroots sporting ecosystem and regional nuances stood Sean out as the right candidate for the Shoalhaven region.
Jenna Purcell (Participation Officer/Southern NSW/ACT)
Roles with Cricket NSW, Rugby NSW and NSW Department of Sport and Recreation over the last two years has cemented Jenna’s desire to work in the sporting industry.
Jenna previously spent eight years as a senior legal secretary and office manager providing her a strong work ethic and razor sharp administration skills.
Jenna was the Illawarra Women’s Social Cricket coordinator and has volunteered in a range of other local women’s competitions and codes.
She was also a rep cricketer of note and just loves sport and wants others to also develop that love.
Based at Albion Park Jenna will work across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions.
