Per Gunn has been a member of Milton Ulladulla District Tennis Association for about 20 years and has played social tennis for most of that time. He plays regularly on Tuesday mornings and Saturday afternoons, sometimes with his grandson Andrew.
Per has always taken an interest in the grounds of the Ulladulla centre and recently took it upon himself to improve the landscaping around the courts.
He has spent weeks planting over 100 items of greenery and ground cover in the bare sloping gardens below courts 7, 8 and 9 and also in the bush beside court 6 – coming back regularly to water the plants.
Mullalla Nursery have been very supportive and helped us with the supply of suitable ground cover plants.
We really appreciate Per’s great effort - a huge help to making our tennis centre look more beautiful and loved.
CHS and PSSA School Tennis Trials
Five local juniors played in the Combined High Schools individual state championships at Parramatta last week.
The main draw events were played on a first to 9 games format.
Our only female entrant, Natasha Phillips-Edgar, flew out of the blocks winning her first round match in the Girls Open 9-0 before coming up against the eventual runner-up in the second round and losing 9-7.
In the consolation matches to follow she won through to the quarter-final before storms swept through Sydney and washed out play for the day so Natasha decided to withdraw from the event and return home.
Riley White lost his first round main draw Open Boy’s match 4-9 and like Natasha, Riley won through to the Open Consolation matches quarter-finals but also withdrew due to the weather delay.
Rylan O’Sullivan, also lost his first round main draw Junior Boy’s match before also making the quarter-finals in the Junior Boy’s Consolation.
Brock Pearse and Rohan Smith were knocked out on the first day.
