Margaret was assisted by Alan Mason, her colleague from St John’s Ambulance. Alan has many years’ experience as a demonstrator and trainer, conducting local first aid courses on a regular basis.
Many facilities in the district have a defibrillator available in case of emergency and Margaret mentioned some of them.
Margaret said it was important to first check to see if the patient is breathing and if there was any heart rhythm. With members gathered around Alan demonstrated the defibrillator on a mannequin while Margaret performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on it.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the club’s establishment members enjoyed a special cake which was cut by Jan Warburton.
