At the Milton Ulladulla Camera District Club last month, it wasn’t just a case of beauty being in the eye of the beholder; this time a degree of cleverness was also key.
Members were asked to choose a well-known phrase and then depict it in photographic form. They rose to the challenge and had a lot of fun too; not just in preparing their entries but in trying to guess the sayings behind other photographs on competition night.
Local photographer Ollie Cool was the guest judge for the evening and provided lively and good-humoured feedback, assessing both creativity and technical skill.
A truly mesmerising monochrome image by current club champion Dawn Woods was a popular choice for Image of the Month in the theme competition The photograph was a beautiful interpretation of the saying ‘eyes are the windows to the soul’.
In the open competition, Scott Colebrook was delighted to receive the highest honours from a field of almost forty entries for a poignant and engaging wildlife image. Scott’s brother Daniel and mum Denise took home an additional three awards between them on the night.
There was also a strong showing of camera club members in the Photography Section placings at the recent 150th Milton Show, while other members excelled in various art and craft fields such as scrapbooking and needlework.
Camera Club meets at 6.30pm at the Milton Ulladulla Bowling Club in St Vincent Street on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Visitors and new members of all skill levels are welcome.
The Club also has a photography-themed trivia night on Saturday, March 23 at the bowling club, with doors opening at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. The questions will be quite broad and not too technical so non-photographers will also be able to compete and enjoy the night. All are welcome, so put together a table or join one on the night for some fun and friendship. For more information call Sandy Lanham on 0413 556 711.
