Police in the South Coast Police District, which extends from Nowra to the Victoria border, have repeatedly called for a significant increase in the number of officers.
NSW Police Association has said 40 extra police are required across all stations in the Shoalhaven area, five in the Batemans Bay region, and eight in the Bega area.
Labor Candidate for South Coast Annette Alldrick was pleased her party has backed her calls for extra officers.
"My opponent [South Coast MP Shelley Hancock] has let community safety slide on her watch over the eight years that she has been in government," Cr Alldrick said.
"We hope rural and regional communities will finally receive their fair share of new police officers to make up for the shortfalls under the present government."
Extra police staff would be put to good use, particularly at the new Sanctuary Point Police station, where round-the-clock operations are yet to be confirmed.
The additional officers will increase the number of general duties officers to respond to emergencies and assist members of the community.
The election pledge is part of Labor's commitment to hiring an additional 1,500 new officers across NSW over four years.
The officers are part of a $583 million investment will see the overall number of police in NSW increase to 18,300 officers.
"Additional police will have a real impact on community safety right along the South Coast and ensure that critical gaps are filled," Shadow Police Minister Guy Zangari said.
