Shoalhaven City Council is inviting the community to explore its new mobile library van set to be unveiled at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on Wednesday, April 3 from 11 am.
Mayor Amanda Findley encouraged book-lovers from around the region to come and check out the new state of the art van at the official launch. Cr Findley said more than $140,000 in funds from the NSW State Public Library Infrastructure Grants program ensured the new addition would hold up to 1000 items, including books, CDs and DVDs.
"Council is extremely excited to have this new van join our mobile library service that travels more than 125 kilometres around the Shoalhaven every week," Cr Findley said in a statement.
"This van also features a retractable awning to allow for outside seating and free Wi-Fi enabled where ever it travels.
"The new van only requires a standard driver's licence which means that any staff member can drive it, making it available for possible outreach services, pop up libraries and home library deliveries."
Cr Findley said the Shoalhaven Libraries' van service visits more than 40 communities each week on a two-week schedule and carries a range of stock that is regularly updated.

The new van will join council's existing service as of Monday, April 8.
