I live near the village of Cambewarra where we have feral deer in herds up to 20. We have foxes pass through ours and surrounding properties. The deer do a lot of damage to pastures and compete with native animals for habitat. The foxes kill for killing's sake. We allow a registered and trained shooter to come onto our property to humanely kill these invasive animals.

The Greens NSW policy on firearms states: Public firearms policy should be concerned with the prevention of firearm violence and be directed towards the removal of objects that cause injury and death. The Greens NSW will work towards: legislation which brings NSW laws into line with the 1996 Australasian Police Ministers Agreement on firearms; a total ban on the ownership, importation and use of semi-automatic firearms; an improved firearms registration system in NSW; improved cooperation between the NSW government and other levels of government in Australia to strengthen national uniform gun laws, firearms training and a national register of firearms.

Former Prime Minister John Howard, in 2016, called for tighter gun laws, 20 years after the Port Arthur massacre that saw him originally introduce tough gun laws. It's a legacy that has been pointed out time and again when news of another mass shooting occurs overseas.

America's National Rifle Association (NRA) fears these laws and throws big bucks and lobbying to fight similar laws being introduced in the US.

The Greens set up toomanyguns.org to show how many registered firearms there are in suburbs and the regions, based on postcode. The website shows the numbers have increased over the past two decades as laws have been weakened in all states, with none setting dates to be fully compliant with the National Firearms Agreement (1996).

The journalistic work done by the well-respected news organisation, Al Jazeera, exposing the indisputable truth about One Nation, magnifies the party's extreme policies.

All Greens members in Gilmore will be asked to determine the order of preferences on the ballot. However, following revelations of the program aired on the ABC, and having conferred with other members, there will be no doubt One Nation will be last on our recommendation of preferences. Pauline Hanson's One Nation party has demonstrated they are anathema not only to The Greens, but the vast majority of Australians.

To the five odd councillors who voted in the negative at the last council meeting re the flying of our national flag I say, shame on you. When you are all long gone, the Australian flag will still be flying. The flag has for so long been been an emblem of our national pride all over the world and on many occasions.

What upsets me most are the negative comments and misrepresentations of late of our elected public officials when engaging in debate on the merits of same. Councillors, what would inspire any of you to advance an argument in such a disrespectful manner when referencing our flag?
