The awards celebrate the best of Travel Marketing in Australia and New Zealand, and the 2019 awards will recognise the industry's standout work from the past year.
Off the back of Gold at the NSW Tourism Awards, and Silver at the QANTAS Australia Tourism Awards for Best Destination Marketing Campaign for the 100 Beach Challenge, Shoalhaven will be competing against four other destinations for the gong of Breakthrough Destination.
"Everyone knows us for our beaches but what is really important is to present the Shoalhaven as a destination to visit in our off-season from after Easter to the October long weekend each year," Tourism Manager Coralie Bell said.
"We have had a great year with the 100 Beach Challenge on the award circuit, but Breakthrough Destination of the Year is an exciting one, as its culmination of all our efforts to redefine the Shoalhaven as a destination to visit in the off-season.
"The work we have been doing promoting food and wine, winter events, surfing and adventure over the past three years has gained us 43 per cent growth in the off-season, helping to even out the seasonality and redefine the Shoalhaven brand to visitors."
