About 400 people attended the sunrise mass offered by Father Michael Dyer at South Mollymook, held on the lawns near the surf club.
The local Italian community organised a seafood breakfast with marlin supplied by the Ulladulla Fishermen's Co-op and prepared by a catering service. Many parishioners remained for the breakfast.
Fr Dyer also officiated at the Blessing of the Fleet. The Ulladulla Marine rescue team ferried Fr Michael and representatives from Italian fishing families around the boats in the harbour for the blessing.
Budawang elder Noel Butler and members of his family accompanied them on the boat, as representatives of the indigenous community - the first fishermen in the area.
