The team from Milton included Thomas and William Hatcher-Nee, Maggie, Claire and reserves Kolt Pinches and Grace against the team from Sunshine Bay Primary School.
The Milton team played strongly to progress through to the next round of the PSSA Victor Kelly Tennis Cup winning 7 sets to 1 and 45 games to 14.
Thomas, William and Claire won their singles sets convincingly. With a three sets to one lead, Milton were in the box seat. Tom and Will dominated their doubles match winning 6-1. Maggie and Claire in their first match together also dominated winning 6-2. Tom and Maggie won their mixed doubles 6-3 and Will and Claire were a formidable pairing also, claiming their victory 6-0.
The students from both teams played with enthusiasm and most importantly, excellent sportsmanship.
A massive thank you to 'Coach Kev' who has volunteered to train the kids over the past two weeks and thanks also to the team manager Melissa Blondinau.
Members trained to use the defibrillator
We hope we are never called on to have to use it, but it is reassuring to know that we now have the ability to save a person's life through the use of a defibrillator which has been installed in the clubhouse.
Thanks to committee member, Paul Woodcock, MUDTA was fortunate to receive a state government grant towards part of the purchase price for a defibrillator and a training session in its use for members.
Club member Len Gumley has secured the machine to the wall inside the Ulladulla clubhouse in a way that can be accessed if necessary even if the clubhouse is closed.
On Wednesday, April 17, paramedic Mark McCarthy came from Wollongong to provide the training in the use of the defibrillator to 10 club volunteers from various competitions and social groups. The machine itself is reasonably easy to operate as it guides you through the procedure visually and audibly in case a player or visitor has a cardiac arrest and becomes unconscious and stops breathing.
Thank you to the ten club members who volunteered to learn how to operate the machine.

Volunteer of the Month
Our April Volunteer of the Month is Ross Johnson who has been a member of Milton Ulladulla District Tennis Association for many years and has played social tennis for most of that time. He plays regularly on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday nights and Saturday afternoons and often brings something yummy for all the players to share.
Currently Ross runs the Wednesday night Mixed Social Tennis Group and has been doing it since 2016. Ross manages the 'Wednesday Night Social tennis' Facebook Page for players to check who is playing each week and confirm if it will still be on.
Prior to that Ross helped run the Saturday afternoon group for a few years and also helps Lynn on a Tuesday when needed.
Members appreciate the time and effort Ross gives and especially to enable social tennis to be played at night, even through the winter. Thank you Ross.
