His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin, Ratna Vajra Rinpoche arrived in Milton on Saturday, April 27 to a traditional Tibetan welcome.
Soft chanting and the aroma of incense filled the air as His Holiness and his monks walked into the Milton CWA for the first event of stay on the South Coast.
His Holiness, second only to the Dalai Lama, toured Sydney, Melbourne and Milton.
More than 120 people including 30 people from Nowra's Tibetan community and special guests Shoalhaven mayor Amanda Findley, Father Michael Dyer, St Mary's Star of the Sea Milton principal Laurinda Nelson and Ulladulla High School principal Denise Lofts were invited to the welcome ceremony.
Manjushri Buddhist Centre member Ben Adcock said it was an amazing experience to have His Holiness in Milton.
His Holiness gave an inspirational talk on compassion, Mr Adcock said.
"Normally he teaches to thousands of people, to have him talk to a handful of people in a local town was special."
