In the M-U Times (Feb 6) Ann Sudmalis was quoted: "...anyone but ALP " for Gilmore.

In the last two weeks, Ms Sudmalis and Joanna Gash, both former Liberal representatives, have said they support the Nationals' Katrina Hodgkinson. A lead article by The Daily Telegraph headed "Nats and the Water Rats" (Aug 2 , 2017 ) about water theft from the Darling- Barwon Rivers, stated: ..."the now retiring Nationals MP and ex water minister Katrina Hodgkinson changed laws to benefit irrigators after lobbying."
Would we want such a person meddling in the assets of Gilmore should she be elected? Therefore I say to the voters of Gilmore: Anyone but the Nationals.

Nuclear fear unfounded
A local Labor Party flyer seems to be criticising the local Liberal representative for suggesting nuclear power should be in the power generation mix with renewables to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
It appears Mr Mundine is a more practical thinker than they are as the nuclear industry does not discharge its waste into the atmosphere as does the fossil fuel industry to increase the atmospheric carbon dioxide and acidify the ocean.
That is not to mention the huge areas laid to waste by mining or drilling for fossil fuels and some of the spill disasters that have occurred or the thousands of deaths from smog before someone realised it was caused from burning coal.
Those who cry that the nuclear waste stays radioactive for thousands of years do not consider how long the carbon dioxide will stay around.
How come the major navies of the world are mostly nuclear powered without major problems and France, with most of its electricity from nuclear power, has one the lowest electricity prices in Europe?
Maybe Mr Mundine is on your side, but shooting the messenger and creating fear is how politics seems to be in Australia, so I wonder why anyone would want to be in it.

Frankly unfair
My wife and I are self funded retirees. Under Labor's plan to discontinue franking credit refunds, our loss of income would be much greater than if all the earnings attributable to each of our account based pensions, including franking credit refunds, were taxed at the current PAYE tax scale. Where's the fairness?
Labor's policy provides no grandfathering arrangements for our retirement investments in fully franked Australian shares.
These investments were made in good faith under the law as it currently is.
In contrast Labor has pledged that property investments currently negatively geared would be fully grandfathered because they would be "investments made in good faith under the law as it currently is".
How can this double standard be fair?
We have raised these and other questions in an email to senior Labor Party politicians including the Leader, Deputy Leader and Shadow Treasurer as well as the Labor candidate for Gilmore.
In doing so, we have not questioned the validity of Labor's policy position. We have simply questioned the lack of fairness in the policy's proposed implementation in its current form.
We have received a number of responses along party lines but none have addressed any of the specifics raised in our email. The Labor candidate for Gilmore has not responded at all!
The superannuation of the policy makers and Commonwealth public servants is not likely to be affected, given that the Future Fund will continue to be the biggest recipient of franking credit refunds - $800m in the 2017 financial year.
It seems that people in our situation will just be seen as collateral damage by the "Party of the Fair Go for All".
