The first winter course of the season will teach lifesavers, who are at least 15 and have either completed their surf rescue certificate or bronze medallion, about the boats, how to negotiate the surf and how to extract a person from the ocean for first-aid.
Surf club trainer John Holt said there was no better way to serve your community than lapping up the sun and waves while you're on patrol making sure swimmers are safe.
"It's a lot of fun to get out and crew the IRB and play in the surf," he said.
The club would like see additional crewpersons and drivers from Mollymook, and welcomes volunteers from other South Coast clubs seeking training.
The training dates will be held over four consecutive Sundays from May 26. Training runs from about 9am to 2pm at the Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club.
